but before i do, i feel like ranting. just caught a snippet of the live the dream finale over dinner and i felt that the judges were too harsh on victor tang. okay, i may be slightly biased because he used to own an icecream parlour called sweet stix in pandan valley, but i still think that their disparaging remarks were completely uncalled for. although i agree that fendi (the other finalist) is by far a much better vocalist, it still does not warrant telling victor that he should not have made it to the finals or that he has absolutely no substance. indeed, the judges are there to critique the contestants. but i think that the way the judges put victor down and grind him into dust, which is what they do time after time, week after week (according to my mom), can never be justified. as judges i think their role is to point out the flaws AND the good points of the performances. even if they dont think there is any praiseworthy moment, at least try to remain objective, and under no circumstance instruct the viewers who to vote for. effective judges are those who are able to enlighten the viewers, providing them with the industry's insider perspective, subtly nudging them in the right direction to vote for the more talented contestant. people such as my mom, have become so fed up with our judges that she is voting for victor just because she does not think he deserves how the judges have been treating him thus far.
in fact, i think that the judges criticism is what has moulded victor's persona into what it appears to be now. having to accept the judges harsh remarks with a smile on his face and created a meek and modest image of him, which is a far cry to the outspoken cheery person who used to run that icecream parlour. so if victor is underperforming, i'd say it's the judges fault. how can he develop the star quality that they say he lacks if they do not encourage him??

in other news, i sprained/twisted my ankle whilst stepping off the curb yesterday. again. fourth time this year, fourth time in my whole life. (maybe my ankles need some strengthening)
